Important Dates!

The firefighters will be here on Wednesday, October 18. We always look forward to their visit! They will teach us to Stop, Drop, and Roll...show us the fire truck...and sometimes they even let us try out the fire hose!

(Just found out the fire fighters have postponed. I'll post the new date when I find out.)

AM Valentine Party

Avarie's mom came to do an art/science project. The kids loved it!
Emma's mom came and made Valentine necklaces. It was a great way to strengthen fine motor skills!

Emma's mom brought a beanbag game and they were able to retrieve a prize from the cups!

We all love Mrs. Patrick!

Morning Class Buddies!

We decided to work with buddies this morning! We are encouraging positive peer pressure and teamwork. Half of the children picked their buddy and the teams worked together as they started their day during free choice time...it was awesome to see them compromise on what activity to begin at! They watched out for each other and helped each other along!

I Love My Readers!

I work hard to instill a love for books and reading in my students! Even though they might not read words, they can read the pictures...and many children memorize the text of their favorite stories.
Alex is one of our high school helpers. He comes over a few mornings a week and the kids really like him!

Elizabeth is also one of our twice-weekly morning helpers. She walks in and automatically starts working with the students!
Reading to self
Reading with a buddy

Everyday when we first get to school, the children are taught to grab a book and 'grow their brain' by reading from one of their favorites.

Jackson loves Kinnley to read to him

Valentine Party

Our morning class will have a Valentine's Day party on Friday, Feb 12, at 10:15. We will dismiss at our normal time.
Our afternoon class will have their Valentine's Day party on Thursday, Feb 11, at 2:25. We will dismiss at our normal time. The afternoon class will not have school on Friday, Feb 12 due to an early school dismissal.
The children are welcome to send in Valentines for their classmates. I've included a class list at the end of this post. You can address each one individually or just sign the 'from' part. (They can start coming in any day next week.)
If you would like to sign up for an open slot, just let me know. If you sign up for a craft or game, you can attend that day and instruct the class (I'd be happy to help you gather supplies, if needed)...game ideas are just any fun "old-school" party games like a beanbag toss or pin-the-arrow-on-the-cupid, etc... craft ideas could be as easy as decorating a white party sack...

Pancakes, Pancakes!

We read the book, "Pancakes, Pancakes" by Eric Carle and then made our own pancakes! We followed the book and topped our pancakes with strawberry jam (some students chose to have a plain one), yum!
